BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team avenged its only home loss of the last five seasons in a 3-0 win over Connecticut College on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears (15-4, 4-1 NESCAC) are 47-1 at home over the last five years with their lone loss coming at the hands of the Camels last fall. Bowdoin has won its last eight matches overall. Connecticut College falls to 7-9 (2-4 NESCAC) with its third-straight league loss.
Bowdoin controlled the contest from the start and took the win by game scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-22. Emese Gaal led the way for the Polar Bears, recording nine kills, four aces and seven digs. Christy Jewett pitched in four kills, three aces, eight digs and three blocks. Quincy Leech had 18 assists and eight digs while Emma Patterson had seven blocks. The Polar Bears notched 13 aces as a team.
The Camels were led by five kills and three aces from Andrea McDevitt and six kills from Chloe Ainley. Cailyn Staubel had a match-high 19 digs while Kaitlin Cunningham pitched in 20 assists in a losing effort.
Both teams return to action Saturday as the Polar Bears host Tufts at 2:00 p.m. and the Camels travel to Bates for a 2:00 p.m. match.
