BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over the University of New England on Tuesday evening, giving head coach Karen Corey her 150th win as Polar Bear head coach.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-1 on the season with the convincing 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 win. The Nor'easters drop to 2-2 overall win the setback.
Bowdoin used a patchwork lineup in the mid-week win, but it was senior Ellie Brennan who led the way with nine kills. Katie Doherty had eight kills and nine digs while Erika Sklaver notched seven kills and three aces. Quincy Leech had 27 assists to spearhead the Polar Bear attack.
The victory gives Corey 150 wins against just 74 losses in her eighth year as head coach (.670 win%). Her Polar Bears have been exceptional since the beginning of the 2011 campaign, racking up 59 wins against nine losses (.868 win%).
The Polar Bears are scheduled to play at the MIT Invitational this weekend. Due to a withdrawal of one of the teams at the event, the complete schedule has been juggled. More details will be available later this week.
