Women's Volleyball Nets Sixth Consecutive AVCA Academic Team Award
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year.
The Polar Bears earned the AVCA's Academic Team Award by maintaining at least a 3.30 GPA. It is the sixth consecutive year that Bowdoin has earned the honor.
In addition to excelling in the classroom, the Polar Bears continued to reach new heights on the court. A year after winning the program's first-ever NESCAC Championship in 2011, the Polar Bears set a new school record with 28 wins and advanced to the Regional Final ("Sweet Sixteen") of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time.
Bowdoin will open its 2013 season at the Endicott College Tournament on September 6 with a pair of matches against Sage and Eastern (Pa.).
