CASTINE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team served 25 aces in an easy 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-6) win over Maine Maritime on Tuesday night.
The 25th-ranked Polar Bears, who re-entered the AVCA Division III poll earlier in the day, improve to 16-2 this season with the win. The Mariners fall to 7-8 on the year with the loss.
Bowdoin's McKenzie Kessel picked up six aces while teammate Emese Gaal added five to lead the Polar Bears service attack. Christy Jewett led Bowdoin with seven kills while Luisa LaSalle and Hailey Wahl had six kills each. Sophia Corew dished out 15 assists and five digs in the victory.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a quartet of matches this weekend at Morrell Gymnasium. Bowdoin will play Colby-Sawyer (5:00 p.m.) and Coast Guard (7:30 p.m.) on Friday evening before hosting Hamilton (11:00 a.m.) and Wellesley (2:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
