Hanczor Named NESCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College junior Kristin Hanczor has been
named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player
of the Week. A middle blocker, Hanczor led the Polar Bears to their
best-ever finish at the Hall of Fame Tournament last weekend and
was named to the All-Tournament squad.
It is the second weekly honor in Hanczor's career and the first
for Bowdoin since she claimed the award as a rookie in 2008.
Hanczor led the Polar Bears to a second-place finish at the Hall
of Fame Tournament, one of New England's premier events. She paced
sixth-seeded Bowdoin to a pair of wins over the top two ranked
teams in the region, scoring 13 digs in wins over New England's #1
Amherst and #2 Springfield. In all, Hanczor connected on .339
percent of her attacks, averaging 2.33 kills and 1.08 blocks per
set.
The Polar Bears sit at 16-9 overall this season and finished with
a 7-3 record in league play which will represent their best finish
in the history of the league. Bowdoin closes out their regular
season with a trio of games this week, including a Senior Day
doubleheader against Keene and Emerson on Saturday. The NESCAC
Tournament will begin Friday, November 5.
