Volleyball Recognized by New England Coaches for Academics
BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the third consecutive season, the Bowdoin College women's volleyball team has earned an Academic Team Award from the New England Women's Volleyball Association. In addition to their work in the classroom, the Polar Bears posted a best-ever third-place finish in the NESCAC last fall.

Hanczor, Drumright Collect Regional Volleyball Honors
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin volleyball players Stephanie Drumright and Kristin Hanczor have been honored in regional awards announced by the New England Women's Volleyball Association and the New England Small College Athletic Conference on Wednesday. Hanczor, a junior middle blocker, was named Second-Team All-NESCAC while Drumright, a senior middle blocker, was tabbed as a Senior All-Star by the NEWVA.

Williams Denies Bowdoin First NESCAC Tournament Win
AMHERST, Mass. - Sixth-seeded Williams College scored the only upset Day One at the NESCAC Volleyball Championship, upsetting third-seeded Bowdoin College 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-20) Friday evening in Amherst College’s LeFrak Gymnasium. The Ephs improve to 17-12 and will take on second-seeded Middlebury tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., while the Polar Bears’ season comes to a close at 18-11.

Bowdoin Hopes to Continue Record-Setting Campaign at NESCAC's
BRUNSWICK, Maine - After posting their best-ever finish in NESCAC regular season play, the Bowdoin College volleyball team will look to make some noise at the 2010 NESCAC Women's Volleyball Championship this weekend, hosted by Amherst. The third-seeded Polar Bears open play in the quarterfinals against seventh-seeded Williams at 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Polar Bears Lose Non-Conference Battle Against Endicott
BEVERLY, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team lost a hard-fought five-set battle at Endicott on Tuesday evening, 3-2 ((26-24, 19-25, 28-26, 24-26, 15-7). The Polar Bears drop to 16-10 with the loss while the Gulls improve to 18-14 overall. Melissa Haskell notched a team-high 15 kills for the Polar Bears to go with 13 digs and two aces.

Hanczor Named NESCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College junior Kristin Hanczor has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week. A middle blocker, Hanczor led the Polar Bears to their best-ever finish at the Hall of Fame Tournament last weekend and was named to the All-Tournament squad.

Bowdoin Finishes Second at Hall of Fame Tournament
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team earned an impressive second-place showing at the Hall of Fame Tournament hosted by Smith and Mount Holoyoke on Saturday. After finishing tenth in the same tournament a year ago, Bowdoin reached the championship match and improved to 16-9 this season. Kristin Hanczor was named to the All-Tournament team for the Polar Bears.

The Polar Bears improve to 13-7 and win their program-best sixth conference game of the year (6-2 in NESCAC). Tufts falls to 14-6 (5-3 in NESCAC).

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury College women's volleyball team handed Bowdoin their first conference loss of the season in a 3-1 decision at Pepin Gymnasium on Friday evening. The Panthers improve to 12-3 (4-0 NESCAC) overall and return to action on Saturday when they host Tufts. Bowdoin (12-6, 5-1) will take on Amherst at 11:00 a.m. in the early match tomorrow morning.

WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit to stun Colby on Wednesday night, 3-2. The Mules (4-7 overall) won 26-24 and 25-21 in the first two sets, but Bowdoin (8-5) took the next three in 25-19, 25-21, and 15-10. First-years Luisa LaSalle (14 kills) and Ellie Brennan (12 kills) led the Polar Bears in the victory.

Polar Bears Perform Well at Competitive Wheaton Invitational
WHEATON, Ill. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team went 1-3 last weekend at the competitive Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational. The Polar Bears earned a convincing 3-0 win over Monmouth (Ill.) but lost a trio of close matches to Benedictine (Ill.), 3-1, Carroll (Wis.), 3-2, and host Wheaton, 3-1. The weekend proved to be a breakout for first-year Ellie Brennan, who led the Polar Bears in kills in three of the four matches.
