Polar Bears Net AVCA's Top Academic Award
BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the third consecutive year, the Bowdoin College women's volleyball team has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Academic Team Award. The 2009 Polar Bears were one of 75 Division III teams to collect the honor and are one of seven NESCAC schools to be recognized.

Coach Corey Leads All-Navy, Armed Forces National Teams
BRUNSWICK, Maine - This spring has hardly been an "off"season for Bowdoin women's volleyball coach Karen Corey. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Corey coached the U.S. Navy Sports and the U.S. Armed Forces Sports programs in competitions over the last few months.

Polar Bears Suffer Season-Ending Loss in NESCAC Quarters
MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team saw their season come to an end in a 3-1 loss to Williams in the NESCAC Quarterfinals on Friday evening. The Polar Bears finish their 2009 campaign with a record of 19-11 as the senior class of Gillian Page, Kelsey Howe and Jenna Diggs finish their careers with the second-most wins of any class in program history (73).

Women's Volleyball Preps For NESCAC Championship
MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team will look for their first-ever victory in tournament play at the 2009 NESCAC Championship hosted by Tufts University this weekend. The Polar Bears (19-10) are the seventh seed in the conference championship and will play second-seeded Williams (18-8) in the opening round on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m.

AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team lost their regular season finale to Trinity at Amherst College on Saturday, 3-1. The Polar Bears bowed by game scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19. Bowdoin finishes 19-10 and 5-5 in NESCAC play, garnering the seventh seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

Volleyball Nets Impressive Three-Set Victory Over Amherst
AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team went on the road and earned a key NESCAC win over Amherst on Friday, 3-0. The Polar Bears dominated from start-to-finish in the 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 victory. Bowdoin improves to 19-9 (5-4 NESCAC) and will play Trinity in their regular season finale on Saturday with playing positioning on the line.

Volleyball Second in Silver Division at Hall of Fame Tourney
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team split two matches to earn second place in the Silver Division of the Hall of Fame Tournament on Saturday. The Polar Bears bounced Bridgewater State 3-0 before falling to Middlebury for the second time in as many weeks, 3-2. Bowdoin stands at 18-9 overall this season.

Volleyball Loses Two Matches at Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team grabbed early leads, but couldn't hold off Middlebury and Williams in a pair of 3-1 NESCAC losses on Saturday at Middlebury College. The Polar Bears (15-8, 4-4 NESCAC), who had won nine of their last ten matches, had not lost consecutive matches since late September.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team won the 2009 Midcoast Classic with a perfect weekend at Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears claimed four victories in all, three in round-robin play, to edge Rivier (2-1), Worcester State (1-2) and Mount Holyoke (0-3). Gillian Page was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The Bowdoin College volleyball team received six or more kills from five different players en route to a 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-14) sweep of the University of New England in a non-conference match Tuesday evening at the Campus Center. First-years Victoria Edelman and Melissa Haskell had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, to pace the Polar Bears.

Page Breaks Record as Polar Bears Split Friday Matches
MEDFORD, Mass. - Bowdoin senior Gillian Page became the program's all-time kills leader as the women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at day one of the MIT Invitational on Friday. Page is just the second Polar Bear to surpass 1,000 kills for her career, breaking the mark formerly held by Julie Calareso '07.

The Bobcats, who prevailed by game scores of 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-20, 15-7, improve to 4-3 while the Polar Bears fall to 5-2 this season. Leading the way for Bowdoin was sophomore Kristin Hanczor with 14 kills.

The Polar Bears were the lone team at the Invitational to go unbeaten after defeating both Eastern Connecticut and Endicott in 3-2 thrillers. For her efforts, Kristin Hanczor was named to the All-Tournament team.

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team won their season-opener on Friday against Salve Regina at the Endicott College Invitational. The Polar Bears claimed the win, 3-1, by game scores of 25-9, 25-19, 21-25, 25-12. Bowdoin played a near-perfect opening game, converting on 11 kills with no errors in 18 attacks as a team. Kristin Hanczor paced the Polar Bears with 10 kills in the contest with three block assists.
