Women's Track Excels in Field Events, Takes Second at State Championship
GORHAM, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's indoor track and field team placed second at the Maine State Championship hosted at the University of Southern Maine Saturday evening.
The Polar Bears totaled 195.5 points to trail only Bates (205.5). Bowdoin out-paced Colby (183.5), USM (111), Husson (10.5) and St. Joseph's (6) at the state meet.
Bowdoin simply dominated the field events, as all four winners came from inside the circle. All four were repeat winners from the 2013 state meet for the Polar Bears.
Erin Silva repeated as state champion in the pole vault, reaching a height of 3.55 meters to claim the title. Katharine Krupp also repeated as winner of the triple jump, earning the win with a distance of 10.96 meters. Randi London won the shot put again with a toss of 12.09 meters while Katherine Harmon repeated in the weight throw with a distance of 15.80 meters.
The Polar Bears will return to action next weekend at the Tufts Invitational.
