BRUNSWICK, Maine - Four Bowdoin College track and field athletes have qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in selections announced by the national office on Sunday.
The championship meet is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25 at Wisconsin-La Crosse. Coby Horowitz, Jacob Ellis, Erin Silva and Katherine Harmon all earned bids to the championship.
Junior Coby Horowitz (Stow, Mass.) qualified in both the 1500 meters and 5K races. A multiple-time All-American in track and cross country, he is seeded fifth (3:48.77) in the 1500 and 17th (14:27.45) in the 5K. The 1500 race is scheduled for Thursday at 4:45 p.m. with the 5K slated for 5:55 p.m. on Saturday.
A first-year, Jacob Ellis (Brattleboro, Vt.) is seeded 11th (1:51.57) in the 800 meter run. That competition is scheduled for 7:25 p.m. on Friday evening.
Sophomore pole-vaulter Erin Silva (Westborough, Mass.) is the 21th qualifier (3.65 meters) for the women's pole vault. The women's pole vault competition is scheduled to begin at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday.
Junior Katherine Harmon (Auburn, Maine) earned a trip to nationals by posting the 13th-best distance in the hammer throw (51.74 meters). The women's hammer throw is scheduled to commence at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
