School Records Fall as Track Teams Compete at ECAC Track Meet

NEW YORK, N.Y. - A trio of school records fell as the Bowdoin track teams competed at the ECAC Track & Field Championship this weekend at the Armory in New York City.

The Bowdoin women scored 19 points to finish 17th among over 50 competing schools. The Bowdoin men scored ten points to finish 29th among over 50 squads.

Coby Horowitz claimed the lone individual win of the weekend for the Polar Bears by taking the 1000 meters in a meet-record time of 2:25.15. Not only did he break the 12-year old meet record, but he bested his own school record in the event set last winter.

On the women's side, Bowdoin's Samantha Copland broke the school record in the 60-meter dash (7.99) and was also a member of Bowdoin's school-record setting 4x200 team that placed sixth (1:44.57). Bowdoin's 4x800 team had the top finish with a third-place showing (9:32.91) while the 4x400 team took seventh (3:57). Erin Silva took sixth in the pole vault (3.71 meters ) while Randi London took seventh in the shot put (11.96 meters) and Katherine Harmon seventh in the weight throw (15.58 meters).
