Track Teams Open 2013 By Sweeping Home Invitational
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College track teams swept a home meet on Saturday afternoon at Farley Field House in their 2013 debut.
The Polar Bear men's team used a late rally to earn a first-place tie with WPI at 171 points. They were followed by Southern Maine (84), Colby (74), Conn. College (43) and St. Joseph's (13).
The Bowdoin women took first place outright, totaling 180 points to surpass Southern Maine (149), Colby (125), Conn. College (66), WPI (55) and St. Joseph's (3).
In the men's meet, Bowdoin trailed by seven points entering the shot put, where throwers Cam Woodford and Cam Chisholm took second and third place to gain seven points and earn a tie with WPI.
Winners for the Polar Bears on the track included Kyle LeBlanc in the 60 meter dash (7.14), Coby Horowitz in the 3000 meters (8:57.29) and Sam Seekins in the 5000 meters (15:12.04). In the field events, Eddy Page won the pole vault (4.15 meters) for Bowdoin.
Bowdoin ran away with the women's meet, thanks to their depth. The Polar Bears had at least one top-three finisher in all but one event on the docket. The Polar Bears will host another meet next Saturday, January 19 at Farley Field House, scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m.
