Several Polar Bears Qualify For NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Several Bowdoin College indoor track and field athletes have qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship scheduled for March 9-10 at Grinnell College in Waverly, Iowa.
The men's distance medley relay team of Coby Horowitz, Matthew Gamache, Colin Fong and Matthew Hillard qualified and is seeded first in Division III with a time of 9:52.27. The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Emily Clark, Emily Barr, Alee Wade and Elsa Millett also earned qualification with a time of 3:54.52 and is seeded seventh entering the championship.
Individual qualifiers included Millett, who is seeded second in the 400 meter dash (56.08), Chantal Croteau in the mile (4:58.69, seeded 12th), Erin Silva in the pole vault (3.65 meters, seeded 14th) and Annie Huyler in the pentathlon (3219 points, seeded 14th).
For each woman's individual event including the pentathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each men's individual event including the heptathlon, the top 13 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 10 declared relay teams — one per school — were accepted into the competition.
