Peterson Finishes 10th in Long Jump at NCAA Championship

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Bowdoin College long-jumper Laura Peterson (Chelsea, Maine) has finished 10th at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship at DePauw University. Peterson leapt a distance of 17-4 3/4 (5.30m), just missing out on qualifying for the finals.

Peterson was edged by 3/4 of an inch by Anne Kersenbrook of Nebraska Wesleyan for the last position in the finals. Peterson advanced her position by four spots in the ranking, as she was seeded 14th entering the competition.

The result closes out a phenomenal sophomore season for the Hall-Dale graduate, who won the New England Division III Championship and established a new school record (18-3) in the event. This was Peterson's first appearance in the NCAA Championship.
