Women's Tennis Cruises to Pair of Saturday Wins

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team cruised to a pair of victories over Connecticut College and Babson on Saturday.

The Polar Bears (7-5, 2-0 NESCAC) pinned an 8-1 setback on the Camels (2-1, 0-1 NESCAC) in the morning. Bowdoin went on to win 7-2 over Babson (6-2) in the afternoon.

Connecticut College Match Highlights

  • Bowdoin carried a 3-0 lead after doubles. Tess Trinka and Izzy Essi won 8-2 at one, Rachel Bercovitch and Viv Daniel went 8-3 at two, and Sasa Jovanovic and Tasha Christ went 8-2 at three.
  • Trinka and Jovanovic both won singles matches by 6-0, 6-1 results at one and six.
  • Christ put together a 6-3, 6-3 win at two, while Essi went 6-0, 6-2 at four.
  • Daniel cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number five.

Babson Match Highlights

  • In doubles, the duos of Trinka/Essi (8-0) and Christ/Jovanovic (8-3) captured quick victories.
  • Daniel and Jovanovic both won their matches at five and six (6,-0, 6-0).
  • Trinka battled to win her match at one in a tiebreaker (7-5, 6-3, 10-7)
  • At two, Christ went 6-4, 6-0 while Essi went 6-3, 6-1 at four.
