2017 Recap (16-6): Bowdoin made its fifth appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals after opening its season with a 9-1 record and reaching as high as number three in the national rankings. The Polar Bears defeated No. 7 Wesleyan to advance to quarterfinals, where they fell 5-1 to No. 3 Emory. Bowdoin's senior trio of Joulia Likhanskaia, Samantha Stalder and Pilar Giffenig finished with 61 career victories and three NCAA Quarterfinal appearances, making them the most successful class in Polar Bear women's tennis history. The doubles team of Likhanskaia and Stalder qualified for the NCAA Individual championship, while Likhanskaia and Tess Trinka earned bids for the singles tournament. Trinka advanced to the second round of NCAA singles play after winning her first match 7-6, 6-0.
2018 Preview: The Polar Bears graduated program standout Likhanskaia who anchored No. 1 singles and doubles throughout her Bowdoin career. Senior captain Tess Trinka looks to fill the top spot and pair with Tasha Christ at No. 1 doubles, replacing last year's senior duo of Likhanskaia and Stalder. In their one dual match of the fall, Bowdoin took a 6-3 victory, rebounding from a 2-1 hole after doubles play. Trinka and Christ won a pair of matches at the Fall ITA Regional, falling to the reigning doubles national champions from Wesleyan. The first-year duo of Rachel Bercovitch and Izzy Essi won their first match of the regional as well.
Bowdoin will again feature one of the nation's toughest schedules as the Polar Bears will face nine of the top 11 teams ranked in the ITA Division III preseason poll. The Polar Bears enter the spring as the fifth-ranked squad in the rankings.
