BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin women's tennis seniors Kellen Alberstone (Tarzana, Calif.) and Chantalle Lavertu (Lewiston, Maine) have been recognized in postseason honors announced this week.
Alberstone was named First Team All-NESCAC and as the ITA Northeast Region Senior of the Year while Lavertu was tabbed as a Second Team All-NESCAC selection. The duo helped lead the Polar Bears to an excellent campaign, finishing the season 15-5 and advancing to the Third Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Making her third-straight First Team All-NESCAC appearance in singles, Alberstone finishes her career as the most decorated women's tennis player in school history. She adds the ITA Northeast Region Senior Player of the Year award to her collection after posting an 18-11 record this year and upping her career wins total to 57 - tied for sixth-place all-time in Bowdoin history. She is a three-time All-American (twice in singles, once in doubles) and will compete at the NCAA Division III Individual Championships May 23-15 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Lavertu garnered her first All-NESCAC selection after playing at #2 singles for Bowdoin this season. Her 20 wins this year are tied for second-most by a player in a single season in school history and increase her career win total to 63, ranking second all-time in school history for singles victories.
