BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team has been seeded third and will open play on Friday against Trinity College in the opening round of the 2013 NESCAC Tournament hosted by Amherst College.
The Polar Bears (13-3, 6-2 NESCAC) will battle the sixth-seeded Bantams (11-6, 3-5 NESCAC) at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3.
Bowdoin posted only two conference losses this spring, dropping back to back matches Amherst (7-2) and Williams (6-3). The day after losing to the Ephs, Bowdoin suffered an 8-1 loss to Emory, but rebounded to enter the tournament riding a five-match win streak, including a dramatic 5-4 win over Middlebury on April 13.
This will be the second neutral-site meeting between the teams this spring, as Bowdoin claimed a 7-2 win in a match played in California on March 20. The teams have never met in NESCAC Tournament play.
In the tournament for the fifth consecutive year, the Bantams grabbed the last spot in this year's championship for the second straight year. The winner of Friday's match will advance to play second-seeded Williams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday's NESCAC Championship match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
