
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Colby on Wednesday afternoon.
The eighth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 9-3 (3-2 NESCAC) with the win. Colby drops to 9-4 (1-2 NESCAC).
Bowdoin dominated doubles play, losing just four points in three matches, to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Emma Chow/Chantalle Lavertu (8-1), Emma Lewis/Tiffany Cheng (8-1) and Kate Winingham/Susanna Howard (8-2) all took wins for the hosts heading into singles play.
The Polar Bears rolled with six straight-set singles wins to seal the win. Kellen Alberstone (6-1, 6-2), Lavertu (6-3, 6-1), Cheng (6-4, 6-0), Winingham (6-1, 6-2), Lewis (6-1, 6-0) and Howard (6-1, 6-0) did not lose a set en route to the victory.
Bowdoin will host an important NESCAC match in their next outing Saturday against Middlebury. Match time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
