Women's Tennis Falls to Two of Nation's Top Teams in Weekend Action

Kellen Alberstone picked up a singles win and doubles point with Kate Winingham against Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to two of Division III's top teams this weekend at Williams College.

The Polar Bears lost a Friday match to #5 Williams, 6-3, before falling to #3 Emory in a match played at Williams on Saturday, 8-1. Bowdoin is ranked eighth in the latest Division III poll and stands at 8-3 this spring.

Against the Ephs, Bowdoin was able to take a point in doubles play courtesy of #3 pairing Kellen Alberstone and Kate Winingham (8-6). Alberstone also notched a singles win at #1 (6-4, 6-1) while Emma Lewis racked up a win at #6 (6-3, 6-4).

The Polar Bears fell behind early against Emory, 3-0 after doubles play, and couldn't bounce back in singles action. Chantalle Lavertu won her match at #2 singles (7-5, 6-3). Lewis lost a three-set battle at #5 (6-3, 4-6, 10-6).

Bowdoin will look to snap its three-match losing streak when they return to action on Wednesday at home against Colby (4:00 p.m.).
