Women's Tennis Earns First NESCAC Wins With Weekend Sweep in Connecticut

Susanna Howard earned a win in singles play against Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's team cruised to a pair of wins in Connecticut last weekend, extending their season-best win streak to three matches.

The 11th-ranked Polar Bears (6-4, 2-0 NESCAC) beat 30th-ranked Trinity 5-1 in a match played to decision and swept Wesleyan 9-0 in their first shutout of the season.

Bowdoin's doubles play was outstanding in both victories, as the top two duos of Kellen Alberstone/Kate Winingham and Emily Lombardi/Emma Chow each earned a pair of wins. The teams of Chantalle Lavertu/Emma Lewis and Susanna Howard/Hannah Hoerner each took a victory as well at #3.

After cruising into singles play with a 3-0 advantage in both matches, Bowdoin took care of business against Trinity with singles wins from Lewis and Howard at #5 and #6. Against Wesleyan, Winingham, Lombardi, Lavertu, Hoerner, Chow and Lewis all took straight-set wins.

The Polar Bears will return to the court with their home opener on Thursday afternoon, April 12 against Colby at 4:00 p.m.
