Squash Teams Split Tuesday Afternoon Matches Against Wesleyan

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College squash teams split a Tuesday afternoon match against Wesleyan at the Lubin Family Squash Center with the women cruising to an 8-1 victory and the men falling 5-4 to the Cardinals.

The women's team improves to 5-5 with its third win in its last four matches. The Polar Bear men fall to 4-6 overall on the year.

In the women's match, Bowdoin dominated the top of the ladder, winning the top eight matches to easily defeat Wesleyan. Michaela Martin (#3), Alden Drake (#4), Sara Wlodarczyk (#6), and Christiana Whitcomb (#7) each took 3-0 sweeps in their respective matches. Rachel Barnes (#1), Sarah Nelson (#2) and Chloe Polikoff (#5) each earned 3-1 wins while Emily Simonton closed out the Bowdoin victors with a 3-2 win at #8.

The Polar Bear men almost knocked off 16th-ranked Wesleyan as a pair of five-set matches proved to be the difference. Stephan Danyluk took a 3-1 decision at #1 while Andrew Ward (#4) and Max Bearse (#6) both took 3-0 victories. Christian Dorff claimed a hard-fought 3-2 win at #5 to account for Bowdoin's points in the match. Benjamin Bristol (#7) and Alex Reisley (#9) both pushed their opponents to the limits in eventual 3-2 losses that tipped the final score in favor of the Cardinals.

Both teams will return to the court on Saturday at home against Brown with start time scheduled for noon.
