NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's squash team finished off a perfect weekend with a 5-4 win over Wesleyan University in the finals of Walker Cup Sunday at Yale University.

The Polar Bears (11-13) finish 17th in the nation with the victory and earn their best finish at nationals since taking 12th overall in 2009. It is the program's first-ever victory in the Walker Cup Division and first Cup win since the team won the Kurtz Division in 2003.

Bowdoin opened the day with a pair of wins. Sara Wlodarczyk won at #6 following a five set showdown (11-9, 9-11, 11-7,7-11, 13-11) while Michaela Martin secured the #3 spot early. Monica Wlodarczyk once again won convincingly at #5 to leave Bowdoin tied with Wesleyan 3-3. Alden Drake put together a great three set performance that put the Polar Bears on top 4-3.

Bonnie Cao's performance would once again decide Bowdoin's fate. After four sets, Cao ended her Bowdoin career with her second match-clinching win in as many days.

Bowdoin had split two previous matches against Wesleyan this season, both 5-4 decisions.
