Squash Teams Break Into Win Column With Sunday Sweep of Northeastern

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College squash teams both picked up their first wins of the season with shutout victories over Northeastern on Sunday afternoon at the Lubin Family Squash Center.

The Polar Bear women bounced back from a Friday night 8-1 loss at Bates to defeat the Huskies 9-0 and improve to 1-5 on the season.

Allison Beeman accounted for Bowdoin's point in Friday's match against Bates before also claiming a 3-0 win over Northeastern. Bowdoin had impressive showings all along the ladder against the Huskies, dropping just a single set in the sweep. Torey Lee, Rachel Barnes, Alden Drake, Michaela Martin, Sara Wlodarczyk, Bonnie Cao, Christiana Whitcomb and Gretchen Williams all joined Beeman with victories.

The men's team moved to 1-4 with the 9-0 win against Northeastern. Bowdoin did not lose a single set as all nine players claimed 3-0 wins. Andrew Hilboldt continued his red-hot play with another win at #1 for Bowdoin. Other winners included Stephan Danyluk, William Fantini, Matt Cooper, Reid Wilson, Max Bearse, Andrew Ward, Will Winmill and Alex Reisley for Bowdoin.

Both teams will return to action on Wednesday, January 16 with a mid-week home match against Amherst. Play is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
