Women's Squash Returns To Court With Weekend Action at Williams

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College squash teams returned to action last weekend with two matches apiece at Williams College.

Although the teams went winless, the Polar Bears boasted several strong individual performances, led by men's senior co-captain Andrew Hilboldt, who collected a pair of victories to improve to 3-1 this season.

The 20th-ranked men's team lost a rematch with #17 Middlebury, 6-3, before falling 8-1 to #12 Williams. The 20th-ranked women's squad dropped a 8-1 decision to #11 Middlebury and fell 9-0 to #10 Williams. Both squads stand at 0-4 overall this year. Among Division III squads, the Bowdoin men are ranked ninth and the women tenth.

Hilboldt was outstanding at #1 singles all weekend, earning a 3-1 win against Jay Dolan of Middlebury on Saturday. William Fantini, a 3-2 winner at #3, and Matt Cooper, a 3-1 victor at #4, accounted for the other Polar Bear points in the setback. Hilboldt followed it up with a thrilling 3-2 win against Nick Marks of Williams on Sunday.

Torey Lee garnered the lone point for the women's squad by taking a 3-1 win against Abigail Jenkins of Middlebury on Saturday.

The women's team will return to action on Friday evening at Bates (6:00 p.m.). Both teams will play their home openers on January 13 against Northeastern, scheduled for 11:15 a.m. starts.
