Kiersten Turner Named Women's Soccer All-American By NSCAA
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin sophomore Kiersten Turner (Gorham, Maine) has been named as a Division III Women's Soccer All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Turner, who was a First Team All-NESCAC and First Team All-New England performer this season, was honored as a Third Team All-American and is the first Polar Bear to earn All-American recognition since Ann Zeigler '08 in 2005. She was one of just three NESCAC players and one of just seven sophomores across the nation to be honored.
The Gorham High School graduate was one of the top offensive forces in the league and collected her first postseason honors after leading the NESCAC in goals (11) and points (26) during the regular season. Turner tacked on one more goal in the post season, in Bowdoin's 3-1 NCAA first round game against Christopher Newport. Turner netted six game-winning goals and has recorded 18 goals and six assists over her first two seasons as a Polar Bear.
The Polar Bears ended their season 12-4-1, reaching a dozen wins for only the second time since 2003. The team advanced to the NCAA Second Round for the second-straight year and earned the program's first tournament win since 1999.
