BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College sophomore Kiersten Turner (Gorham, Maine) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
Turner scored the first goal and added an assist on the second as the Polar Bears knocked off previously-unbeaten Trinity, 3-0, on Saturday. Turner also scored the game's first goal in a 6-0 mid-week win over Southern Maine last Tuesday. Turner leads Bowdoin and is second in the NESCAC with 17 point this season. Of her seven total goals so far, four have been game-winners.
In her two years at Bowdoin, Turner has tallied 13 goals and five assists. With five regular season games remaining, she has already surpassed her point total from all of last year. With three more goals, Turner will crack into the list of top ten single season goal scorers in Bowdoin history.
As a team, the Polar Bears have recorded seven shutouts this season, while outscoring their competition 24-3. Bowdoin has not allowed a goal in over 360 minutes of play, recording four straight shutouts following their only loss of the season to Middlebury back on September 21.
Bowdoin plays a pair of games during Homecoming Weekend, as they clash with Hamilton on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and Williams on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
