BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year Jamie Hofstetter (Chester, N.J.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
Hofstetter tied a NESCAC Championship record with three goals, as the Polar Bears topped Hamilton 3-2 in the quarterfinal round on Saturday. After a scoreless first half, the midfielder scored twice in a span of 2:08 early in the second period to give her team a 2-0 edge. She then notched an insurance goal in the 66th minute to round out the hat trick. The goal proved to be crucial, as Hamilton found the back of the net again in the 87th minute.
Hofstetter's three goals more than double her season output as she registered two goals in the regular season. She is the first Bowdoin player to be named NESCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week this year.
The victory improved Bowdoin's record to 11-3-1 this fall, the most wins for the program since the 2007 season. The Polar Bears advance to the NESCAC Semifinals next Saturday where they will face Amherst at Williams with kick-off slated for 1:30 p.m.
