CLINTON, N.Y. - Kiersten Turner scored the game's only goal as the Bowdoin College women's soccer team topped Hamilton College 1-0 at Love Field on Saturday.
Bowdoin's (9-2 overall, 5-2 NESCAC) lone goal was assisted by Molly Popolizio. Bridget McCarthy made four saves for the shutout. Liza Gergenti made five stops for the Continentals in the loss. Alex Rimmer and Hannah Withiam had five shots apiece.
Turner notched her team-leading fifth goal in the 23rd minute. Becky Krakora's free kick into the box eventually found Popolizio, whose header was originally stopped by Gergenti. Turner collected the rebound and knocked it into the back of the net.
Hamilton (7-3-1, 4-3-1) upped the tempo in the second half, gaining 10 more shots than the Polar Bears, but couldn't convert on any of them. The Continentals held an 18-7 shot advantage for the game and Bowdoin held a slight edge in corner kicks at 5-3.
Hamilton hosts Colby College in a NESCAC match on Sunday, Oct. 13. Bowdoin continues their road trip on Sunday at Amherst College.
