Women's Rugby Takes Forfeit Win Over Amherst

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Due to fall break, the Amherst College women's rugby team could not gather enough players to make the trip to Brunswick to play Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. Therefore, the Polar Bears earned a 28-0 forfeit victory.

Bowdoin improves to 4-1 this season and will travel to play at Williams next Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

In the absence of an intercollegiate match, the Polar Bears enjoyed a Black/White scrimmage (The A-side forwards and the B-side backs played against the B-side forwards and A-side backs). The Black team rallied for a 34-27 comeback win.

Defensive standouts of the match included Anna Piotti, Hayleigh Kein, Emily Athanas-Linden, Samantha Hoegle, Elena Schaef, and Elsbeth Paige-Jeffers.  Highlighting the attack for Bowdoin were Addison Carvajal, Chaz Kleiman, Kein, co-captains Maura Allen & Amanda Montenegro.  Scrumhalf Kam Sanchez, Emily McCadden, Cammie Ogden-Fung, Tasha Yektayi and Emily King had solid all-around games.
