Women's Rugby Takes Forfeit Win Over Colby, Scrimmages Dartmouth
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team was awarded a 7-0 forfeit victory against Colby on Saturday as the Mules were unable to field a team in time for its New England Small College Rugby Conference opener on Saturday.
As a result, the Polar Bears improve to 1-0 in NESCRC play this season and traveled to play Division I Dartmouth for an exhibition match Saturday.
Despite losing to the Big Green 32-5, the Polar Bears gained valuable experience in preparation for their home opener next weekend. Bowdoin had solid defensive performances from Anna Piotti, Maura Allen and Hayleigh Kein in the loss. Addison Carvajal deposited Bowdoin's lone try of the friendly while Samantha Caras enjoyed a solid day on the front line for the Polar Bears.
Bowdoin will return to conference play next weekend as they battle in their home opener against Middlebury on Saturday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m.
