BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team will host the 2012 New England Small College Rugby Conference Championships this Saturday, November 3 at Pickard Field.

After the conference's inaugural season of play, the Polar Bears (6-0 NESCRC) will host Middlebury (4-2) in the league's first-ever championship 'Cup' match at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The kickoff for the Colby-Tufts third-place 'Plate' match will precede the final at 11:00 a.m.

While Bowdoin never relinquished the top spot during the Fall 2012 season, the competition to make the final was fierce; only a single point separated second place seed Middlebury from the third seed Colby Mules.  The Tufts Jumbos, who trailed Colby also be a single point, round out the tournament competition.

NESCRC was founded in the spring of 2012 and is comprised of DII women's rugby clubs whose athletic departments operate within the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).  There are currently seven women's clubs participating in the conference:  Amherst College, Bates College, Bowdoin College, Middlebury College, Tufts University and Williams College.

Complete results will be posted on the Bowdoin Athletics website following Saturday's competition.
