Northeastern and arch-rival Bates. They closed out the season with
a hard-fought 20-12 win against Wellesley for the Plate Division
(Tier Two) crown.
2010 Preview: Coming off a spring season that included a successful tour to Washington, D.C. and Virginia, the Bowdoin women's rugby team is full of good chemistry, camaraderie and optimism about the fall season. The schedule will have a different look this year, as rivals Bates and Colby, as the duo dropped down to Division 3 in New England. A trio of regular season home matches will feature Boston University (Sept. 25), Maine-Orono (Oct. 2) and Radcliffe (Oct. 16). The Polar Bears boast a talented group of returners, including explosive scrumhalf Becky Stevens and Greely High School graduate Katie Mathews, who was named to the Northeast Rugby Union's Under-23 Team last spring.
By the Numbers: 6-0. The Polar Bears were unbeaten at home against NERFU opponents last fall, racking up a cumulative score of 173-17, including four shutouts. Overall, Bowdoin is 11-1 at Pickard Field over the last two seasons.
