Bowdoin Hosting USA Women's Rugby National Team
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The U.S.A. Women's National Rugby Team fortified with Bowdoin alumna Farrah Douglas '99 is holding its summer residency camp at Bowdoin for three weeks beginning July 10, 2010. Members of the team, called the Women Eagles, will be living on campus as they train for the World Cup in England in August.

Paige-Jeffers and Mathews Named to NRU U-23 Squad
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College women's rugby players Elsbeth Paige-Jeffers and Katie Mathews have been named to the Northeast Rugby Union's Under-23 team. The duo were two of just 25 players selected to play in the national Under-23 Tournament in California in June.

Boston University Second-Half Rally Sinks Bowdoin
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team faltered in the second half as the Boston University Terriers rallied for a 22-10 win on Saturday, April 10. The Polar Bears will continue their spring non-league season on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. against the Portland U-19 squad.

Women's Rugby Opens Spring Campaign in Mid-Atlantic
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team embarked on a five-day spring break trip to the Mid-Atlantic that included sightseeing, training and a pair of victories over the University of Mary Washington and American University. Bowdoin will return to action with series of spring non-league matches beginning Saturday, April 3.

Four Polar Bears Named to NRU U-19 All-Star Team
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Four Bowdoin College women's rugby players have been selected to the Northeast Rugby Union's U-19 All-Star team. Nylea Bivins, Uchechi Esonu, Katie Mathews and Dani McAvoy have all been chosen for the squad, which will compete in the USA Rugby National All-Star Championship on November 21-22 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Women's Rugby Garners Plate Division Championship
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team captured the NERFU "Plate Division" title on Saturday with a 20-12 victory over Wellesley. The Polar Bears, who received strong performances from Dani McAvoy, Erica Camarena and Loryn Fridie as well as backs Becky Stevens, Katie Mathews and Kerry Townsend, finish their year with an overall mark of 7-2.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team eased to a 20-0 win over visiting Amherst in a NERFU Tier Two Playoff contest at Pickard Field Saturday. The Polar Bears advance to play the winner of Bates and Wellesley in the "Plate Division" Championship next Saturday at 2:30.

Polar Bears Overwhelm New Hampshire in Rout
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team overwhelmed the University of New Hampshire on Saturday, celebrating Homecoming Weekend with a 60-0 win over the Wildcats. However, due to NERFU tiebreaker rules, the Polar Bears missed out on the Division II playoffs and will play in the tier two tournament beginning next weekend.

Bowdoin Succumbs to Maine-Orono to End Road Trip
ORONO, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team concluded a three-match road trip with a 29-5 setback at the University of Maine-Orono on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears fall to 3-2 this season and 1-2 in NERFU play. Co-Captains Erica Camarena '10 and Hannah Larson '10 had fine overall games, as did Becky Stevens, who claimed the lone Bowdoin score on the day.

Women's Rugby Blanks Bates For First NERFU Win
LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team spoiled Homecoming Weekend for Bates on Sunday, blanking the Bobcats 20-0 for their first victory of the NERFU season. Bowdoin improved to 3-1 overall with the win. Bowdoin's #9, Becky Stevens and the forward pack (#1 - #8) dominated play throughout the game on a damp afternoon perfect for rugby.

Radcliffe Too Much For Women's Rugby in NERFU Opener
BOSTON, Mass. - Dropping from Division 1 into Division 2 in the New England Rugby Football Union, a strong Radcliffe (Harvard University) Women's Rugby team defeated Bowdoin 41-10 today in Boston. The Polar Bears will look to get back on track next Sunday when they play at Bates College.
