Women's Rugby Announces Fall 2009 Schedule
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team is slated to begin their fall 2009 campaign at home against Colby and Maine-Farmington on September 12. The Polar Bears will look to continue the exploits of recent years that was spearheaded by one of the most successful senior classes in program history.

Women's Rugby Wraps Spring Campaign, Ranked Fourth Nationally
BRUNSWICK, Maine - After a successful Fall 2008 season with Bowdoin Women’s Rugby placing 2nd in New England, the women ended their spring campaign with a record of 3-2. With league games being played in the fall, the spring season is primarily used for skill building, continuity of contact for safety, and attracting new players who may want to learn the sport.

Bowdoin to Host Clinic With New Zealand's Blair Larsen
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College will host former New Zealand national player Blair Larsen for a five-session coaching course in the month of February. A professional coach and former All-Black national player, Larsen has completed his IRB (International Rugby Board) Coaching Papers. He coaches the North Harbour Development XV, and was named the 2008 ‘Coach of the Year.’ Click the link above for details.

NESCAC Announces Fall All-Academic Team Honorees
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Thirty-nine Bowdoin student-athletes have been awarded NESCAC All-Academic recognition in honors announced this week. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

Women's Rugby Falls, Eliminated From NRU's
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team saw their fall campaign come to an end with an 8-0 loss to Stonehill in the NERFU Championship match on Saturday. The Polar Bears, due to NERFU tie-breaking regulations, do not advance to the Northeast Regional and finish their fall slate with a record of 10-2.

Women's Rugby Advances To NERFU Final With Win
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team used outstanding defense to shutout the University of Vermont, 17-0, in the NERFU Semifinals on Saturday in Brunswick. The Polar Bears advance to Sunday's New England Championship match against Stonehill, who defeated Norwich 25-19 in the other semifinal contest.

Bowdoin to Host NERFU Tournament This Weekend
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Pairings have been set for the New England Rugby Football Union playoffs scheduled for Bowdoin College this weekend. The host Polar Bears will play the late game of a doubleheader against the University of Vermont at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The first game will feature Norwich University and Stonehill College at 11:00 a.m. The tournament continues on Sunday with matches again slated for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Bowdoin Advances in NERFU With Win Over Williams
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team defeated Williams 25-0 in the opening round of the New England Rugby Football Union playoffs on Saturday. The Polar Bears advance to the NERFU Semifinals which they will host at Pickard Field next Saturday with the Finals scheduled for Sunday. Matchups and gametimes will be announced early next week.

Bowdoin Stifles Orono, Clinches Top Seed
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team completed their first perfect NERFU season since 1995 with a 22-5 win over Maine-Orono on Saturday. The Polar Bears complete their conference slate with a 5-0 mark and earn the league's top seed for the postseason tournament. They will host Williams in a first-round match next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Rugby Outstanding at Opening Tournament
AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's rugby team opened their 2008 campaign with a 3-1 record at the Beantown Tournament in Amherst, Massachusetts this weekend. The Polar Bears, who entered the finals unscored-upon, had to forfeit the championship match to Wellesley due to lack of available players. The result did not put a damper on the weekend as the Polar Bears, when playing at full-strength, blanked three-straight opponents and made a powerful statement to open the season.
