Women's Lacrosse Earns At-Large Bid to NCAAs, Will Host First Round Game

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament in selections announced on Sunday night.

The Polar Bears (13-3), who are ranked eighth in the latest IWLCA Division III poll, will host a First Round game on Wednesday, May 8 at Ryan Field against Bridgewater State. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The winner of Wednesday's First Round match will advance to play the winner of Susquehanna and Geneseo State at a to-be-determined location on Saturday with a regional final scheduled for Sunday.

Bowdoin will return to the NCAA Tournament after a one-year absence. In their last tournament appearance in 2011, the Polar Bears rolled to their first-ever NCAA Final Four, reached the Division III Championship Game and ended as national runners-up. It will be Bowdoin's fifth NCAA Tournament bid overall. The Polar Bears are one of four NESCAC teams to qualify for this year's championship.

Bridgewater State University (17-2) earned an automatic trip to the tournament after winning the MASCAC Tournament on Saturday.

More information about Wednesday's First Round contest, including ticket prices and live coverage, will be announced on Monday.
