BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College women's ice hockey sophomore Ariana Bourque (West Barnstable, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Bourque had a hand in all five Bowdoin goals over the weekend, as the Polar Bears earned a much-needed win and tie against Trinity. She assisted the game-tying goal in the third period and netted the game-winner with 5:01 remaining in the game to give Bowdoin a 2-1 win on Friday night. On Saturday, Bourque had a goal and two assists, including a score with under three minutes to go that pulled the Polar Bears to within 3-2, and assisted on the game-tying marker just 18 seconds later as both squads skated to a 3-3 tie.
Bourque leads the Polar Bears with seven goals and nine assists this year, standing at 15-17-32 in her first two seasons at Bowdoin. Bowdoin is 9-8-3 (4-5-3 NESCAC) after the weekend series with Trinity.
The Polar Bears travel to Hamilton for a pair of games against the Continentals, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
