Lane Nets Pair to Lead Polar Bears Past Crusaders
WORCESTER, Mass. – Madeline Lane scored a pair of goals as the Polar Bears went on to collect their second straight victory with a 2-1 win over host Holy Cross on Saturday evening.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-2-0 on the season, while dropping the Crusaders to 5-3-0.
Bowdoin scored its first goal of the game with less than five minutes remaining in the second frame. Utilizing the power play opportunity, Lane took a feed inside the blue line and wristed a high shot to the left corner as Schuyler Nardelli screened Krista Manzanares.
The Crusaders evened the score at 1-1 just 3:20 into the third period. Rose Rather took the feed from Izzy Bagi to net the equalizer. With under three minutes to play in the game, Lane tallied the game winner with a similar power play goal. Positioned in the center of the ice, Lane fired off a quick slap shot that went left post for the 2-1 lead.
Bowdoin's Beth Findley made 28 stops in net, while only allowing one goal by the Crusaders. Holy Cross' Manzanares stopped 11 shots in net
The Polar Bears be back in action when they host New England College at 7:00 PM on Tuesday night.
