Women's Golf Team Sinks Bates in Season-Opener Saturday

Kendall Kyritz posted the lowest score in Saturday's match with Bates

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's golf team defeated Bates in its season debut Saturday at Brunswick Golf Club.

The Polar Bears and Bobcats played an 18-hole dual match with Bowdoin carding a top-four team score of 357 to 411 for Bates.

Kendall Kyritz of Bowdoin was the medalist with an 84 to lead all players. The Polar Bears posted the top three scorers of the day as Ursula Munger (89) and Taylor Giuffre (89) tied for second place individually. Emily Quirk (95) rounded out the Polar Bear scorers. Liz LaVerghetta (92) was the top Bates performer, placing fourth.

The Polar Bears will travel to compete at the Mount Holyoke Invitational next weekend at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.
