BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin women's basketball junior Sara Binkhorst (West Hartford, Conn.) has been named Player of the Week by both the New England Small College Athletic Conference and the New England Women's Basketball Association in weekly awards handed out Monday.
Binkhorst scored a game-high 22 points to go along with seven assists in Bowdoin's 71-46 NESCAC Quarterfinal win over Williams on Saturday. Binkhorst sparked the Polar Bears' game-opening 21-2 surge, scoring 10 points in the run. The junior finished the game shooting 8-of-14 from the field with two steals.
Shooting 42.7% this year from three-point range, Binkhorst ranks third in the NESCAC. She is second on the team and eighth in the NESCAC at 13.2 points per game this year.
The Polar Bears will face Amherst at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the NESCAC Semifinals at Tufts University. Sunday's NESCAC Championship game is scheduled for noon.
