Women's Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale to Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team closed out its regular season with a loss Saturday to fifth-ranked Tufts University, 92-55.

The Jumbos improve to 21-3 (10-0 NESCAC) on the season and will be the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. The Polar Bears end the regular season at 20-4 (7-3 NESCAC), earn the third seed and will host sixth-seeded Williams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22 in a quarterfinal game at Morrell Gymnasium.

Shannon Brady had 11 points in the setback for Bowdoin while Sara Binkhorst had 10. Liz Moynihan had 20 points to lead all scorers for Tufts.

Tightly contested in the early going, the Jumbos used a 23-5 run midway through the opening period, going from down 11-10 to up 33-16 in a six-minute span. Tufts shot 69% in the opening stanza, including 9-13 from three-point range to take a commanding 54-32 lead at halftime.

The Jumbos finished at 60% shooting for the game and cashed in on 21 points off 18 Bowdoin turnovers.
