Brady Named NEWBA Rookie of Year, Donahoe Named to First Team
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin women's basketball players Shannon Brady (Scituate, Mass.) and Kaitlin Donahoe (Amherst, N.Y.) were honored in awards dished out by the New England Women's Basketball Association late last week.
Brady was named as the NEWBA Rookie of the Year while Donahoe was recognized as a First Team selection.
The NESCAC's Rookie of the Year, Brady made an immediate impact in the Polar Bear lineup this season, averaging 7.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and ranked fifth in the NESCAC at 2.0 blocks per contest. Her 47 blocks were the fifth-most in a single season in program history and the most-ever by a first-year player.
Donahoe led the NESCAC in scoring at 15.4 points per game while averaging 3.2 assists per game. The senior co-captain also grabbed 3.8 rebounds per contest while swiping 38 steals this season. Donahoe, who improved her points per game average each of her four years, finishes her time at Bowdoin with 1,058 career points to rank 11th in school history. Additionally, her 373 career assists stand third in program history while her 99 three-pointers are eighth.
Bowdoin reached the NESCAC Semifinals this winter, becoming the first eight seed to upset at top seed in tournament history. They finished their season with a record of 14-11.
