BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team suffered a 72-32 non-conference loss at the University of New England on Tuesday evening.
The loss drops the Polar Bears to 1-2 this season. UNE moves to 2-1 on the campaign with its first win over Bowdoin since the 1994-95 season. Bowdoin had won the last 16 meetings between the teams.
Bowdoin trailed 35-8 at halftime, committed 33 turnovers and shot just 21.4% from the field in the setback, including just 1-20 from three-point range. UNE shot 45.5% from the field and connected on 7-22 from long distance.
Beth Suggs posted a double-double for the Nor'easters, scoring 22 points with 11 rebounds. The Polar Bears were led by seven points from Anna Prohl, who also had six rebounds.
The Polar Bears will look to rebound in their home opener next Tuesday, November 27 against the University of Southern Maine. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
