THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Cal-Lutheran women's basketball team team used a late 6-0 run and held off a late Bowdoin rally to edge the Polar Bears 56-55 in the finale of the Posada Royale Holiday Classic late Saturday evening.

Bowdoin has its four-game winning streak snapped and falls to 7-3 this season. Kaitlin Donahoe had 18 points to lead all scorers in the loss. Alexa Barry had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Polar Bears. Both players were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Polar Bears traield 31-24 at intermission but chipped away at the lead and used a 10-0 run, keyed by eight points from Donahoe, to take a 47-41 lead with 7:21 to go. The Regals answered with a 6-0 run to tie the game at 47 with under six minutes to play.

Both teams struggled from the field for the remainder of the game and the Regals were able to connect on seven free throws down the stretch to build a four-point lead with under a minute to play. Alexa Barry cut the lead to 54-53 with a three-pointer with 31 seconds to go. After two more Lutheran free throws made it 56-53, Jill Henrikson's potential game-tying three-pointer was off the mark as the Regals clung to victory.

Bowdoin will return to action with a NESCAC contest on January 6 at Hamilton College. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Clinton, N.Y.
