DaCampo, Barlow and DellaTorre Honored in All-NESCAC Softball Awards
BRUNSWICK, Maine – Three members of the Bowdoin softball team have received All-Conference recognition from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Senior shortstop Toni DaCampo (Woburn, Mass.), who was a Second Team selection in 2011, earned a spot on the 2013 First Team. DaCampo led the Polar Bears with a .360 batting average, piling up 49 hits, including 12 doubles and scoring 40 runs. The shortstop also added four home runs, 19 RBI, a pair of triples and drew 24 walks to bring her on base percentage to .451.
Senior outfielder Gen Barlow (Norwich, Conn.) and junior pitcher Melissa DellaTorre (Scarborough, Maine) both earned Second Team All-Conference recognition. Barlow, an All-Conference selection in 2012, led the Polar Bears with a 40 RBI season. Barlow's career numbers rank among the top ten in program history, including her 479 plate appearances that ties the most all-time. In four season Barlow has 10 triples (tied for second all-time), set a program mark with 21 home runs, and is tied for third most career hits (157). Barlow batted .304 this season with a .427 on base percentage.
DellaTorre tied her personal best, and the program record, for most wins in a season with 14 in both 2012 and 2013. The junior pitcher is currently tied for third inall-time career wins (38) and has landed on the top ten list for strikeouts in all three season. This year's strikeout total of 106 brings her career number to 351, which is third in program history.
The Polar Bears ended their season in the NESCAC Championship game against Tufts. Bowdoin compiled a 30-14 record, including a 13-game win streak.
