The Polar Bears (28-12, 8-4 NESCAC) earned the second seed out of the NESCAC's East Division and will face the West's top seed Middlebury (25-9, 10-2 NESCAC) at 5:00 p.m. in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament.

Bowdoin is making its second straight appearance in the championship and third in four years. The Polar Bears enter the weekend having won six straight NESCAC East division games. Junior Melissa DellaTorre (Scarborogh, Maine) and first year Julia Geaumont (Saco, Maine) lead the Bowdoin pitching staff. DellaTorre (13-6) ranks second in the conference with a 1.30 ERA and fifth with 94 strikeouts. Geaumont (10-3) is fifth in the NESCAC with a 1.92 ERA. Senior Gen Barlow (Norwich, Conn.) leads the team with 39 RBI and is tied for first with seven homers.
The Polar Bears dropped two games at last year's tournament but reached the final day of the championship in 2010, eventually finishing as the NESCAC runner-up.
