CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin softball team rolled to two more wins on Thursday in Florida against regional opponents.
The Polar Bears claimed a 8-4 win over Wesleyan and earned a 6-5 win over Salve Regina to improve to 4-0 this spring.
Hanna Wurgaft sparked the Bowdoin offense against the Cardinals, going 4-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI's. Toni DaCampo also had a pair of RBI's as the Polar Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead before a late Wesleyan surge closed the final gap to 8-4. Melissa DellaTorre struck out six batters in the win.
Against Salve Regina, Bowdoin earned their second walk-off of the spring with a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh. Cielle Collins drove in Dimitria Spathakis with the game-tying run in the final frame, setting the stage for Siena Mitman to single home Adriane Krul for the clincher. A clutch double play turned by Julia Geaumont, Toni DaCampo and Katie Gately in the top of the seventh kept Bowdoin within striking distance. DellaTorre earned her second win of the day in relief while Wurgaft had two more hits for the Polar Bears.
Bowdoin will look to remain perfect with a pair of games on Friday against Keene State and Ripon.
