Softball Trio Named All-NESCAC in Postseason Honors
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Three members of the Bowdoin College softball team have been named All-New England Small College Athletic Conference in honors announced by the league on Thursday. Senior P/DP Kara Nilan (Pittsfield, Mass.), sophomore SS Toni DaCampo (Woburn, Mass.) and first-year P Melissa DellaTorre (Scarborough, Maine) were all named to the conference's Second Team.

DellaTorre Takes Second NESCAC Pitcher of the Week Honor
BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the second time this season, Bowdoin first-year pitcher Melissa DellaTorre (Scarborough, Maine) has been named the NESCAC Pitcher of the Week. DellaTorre was simply dominant in five appearances last week as the Polar Bears concluded their 2011 campaign with a record of 22-18.

Polar Bears Earn Split in Doubleheader at Brandeis
WALTHAM, Mass. - The Bowdoin College softball team split a doubleheader Friday afternoon against Brandeis University, getting a shutout from Melissa DellaTorre in a 4-0 victory in the opener before falling in an 8-7 slugfest in game two. The Judges close out the 2011 regular season with an 18-17 record, while Bowdoin is 21-18.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Husson University softball team swept a doubleheader from Bowdoin on Wednesday afternoon at Pickard Field, 5-2 and 3-2. The Eagles improve to 21-15 this season while the Polar Bears dip to 20-17 on the season. The Polar Bears will look to remain in the hunt for a NESCAC playoff berth on Thursday afternoon when they host Bates in a must-win game at 5:00 p.m.

Polar Bears Sweep UNE to Reach Twenty Win Plateau
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin pitchers Melissa DellaTorre and Tricia Thibodeau tossed back-to-back shutouts as the Polar Bear softball team swept a doubleheader from the University of New England on Tuesday afternoon, 1-0 and 8-0. The wins push Bowdoin (20-15) to the 20-win plateau for the fifth consecutive season while the Nor'easters fall to 23-15 with the losses.

Bowdoin Rallies Past Thomas Twice in Doubleheader Sweep
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College softball team rallied in a pair of wins over Thomas College on Tuesday afternoon at Pickard Field, 6-2 in game one and 5-3 in game two. Winners of a season-best seven-straight games, the Polar Bears return to .500 and stand at 13-13 overall this spring. Thomas falls to 11-9 this season with the losses. Gen Barlow led the Bowdoin attack with four hits, including a home run and a double and two stolen bases in the wins.

DaCampo Named NESCAC Softball Player of the Week
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin sophomore shortstop Toni DaCampo (Woburn, Mass.) has been honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week. DaCampo led the Bowdoin offense to a perfect 5-0 week, including a weekend sweep of NESCAC East Division rival Colby, as she batted .500 with 10 RBI.

The Polar Bears, who faced several regionally and nationally-ranked teams on the trip, suffered eight losses by two or fewer runs during the 16-game trip. After suffering a trio of tough losses to fall to 1-4, the Polar Bears defeated Wisconsin Lutheran Friday afternoon and swept a doubleheader against Elmhurst and Carroll on Saturday.

Polar Bear Softball Splits on Opening Day in Florida
CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin College softball team earned a split in its first day of action during their spring break trip to Florida. The Polar Bears suffered a setback to Western New England, 6-2, but defeated Babson 2-0. In the victory against Babson, Kara Nilan twirled a gem, striking out 11 and allowing just two hits to win a pitcher's duel.
