Polar Bear Softball Stays Perfect With Two Wednesday Wins
CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin College softball team picked up two
more wins on Wednesday, claiming a 2-1 victory over Frostburg State
and a 6-3 decision over FDU-Florham to improve to 4-0 this
season.
Bowdoin won a pitcher's duel in game one as starter Kara Nilan
went five innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven before
giving way to Julia Jacobs and Michelle Wells to seal the win.
Clare Ronan accounted for both Bowdoin runs, going 2-4 with two RBI
while Shavonne Lord had a triple and Lauren Coven a double in the
win.
A team effort lifted the Polar Bears to a win in game two, as
Kaity Sansone tossed the first three innings and allowed just two
hits against four strikeouts before giving way to Jacobs for three
frames. Jacobs permitted three hits and whiffed three to set the
table for Wells' second save of the day. Caroline Dewar went 3-4 to
pace the Bowdoin offense while Gen Barlow had a two-run single and
Nilan went 2-4.
