Lord Named Second Team All-NESCAC in Softball
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin junior shortstop Shavonne Lord
(Shrewsbury, Mass.) has been named Second Team All-New England
Small College Athletic Conference in honors announced on Thursday.
It is the first postseason award for Lord, who led Bowdoin's
offense this season on the way to a 22-16-1 overall record.
Lord batted at a .406 clip this spring, rapping out 41 hits, eight
doubles and three triples to rank among the top-ten Bowdoin
single-season performances in each of those categories. In
addition, her 25 runs scored are tied for the seventh-most in a
single year while her 19 walks this year set a new school
record.
Despite missing significant time due to injury as a sophomore, Lord
has accumulated an impressive resume through three seasons at
Bowdoin. She boasts a career batting average of .378 and stands
third all-time at Bowdoin with 45 career walks. Her 55 career runs
batted in rank fourth all-time, as do her six career triples. She
stands fifth all-time in program history in runs (71), hits (110)
and sixth in doubles (22).
