Frank Pizzo, Bowdoin class of 2006, has been the head coach of the Polar Bear sailing team since 2008. Prior to earning the head job, Pizzo served as an assistant coach for Bowdoin and head sailing coach at Columbia University.

He was a decorated sailor as an undergraduate at Bowdoin, earning four varsity letters and captaining the team in both his junior and senior campaigns. He was voted the team's Most Valuable Skipper on three occasions (2004-2006) and propelled the team to new heights in both fleet racing and team racing.

During the summer, Pizzo is the Program Director at the Harraseeket Yacht Club located in South Freeport. Previously, Pizzo worked at the Ida Lewis Y.C. in Rhode Island and was the head instructor at Pequot Yacht Club in Connecticut, where he ran one of the premier junior sailing programs in the country.

Still an active racer, Pizzo completed his second Newport-to-Bermuda Offshore Race in June. A native of Wilton, Connecticut and graduate of Wilton High School, Pizzo graduated from Bowdoin in May of 2006 with a major in Economics and minor in Government and Legal Studies.
